表面活性劑具有高效的清潔及消毒功能,早已成為保潔產品中最重要的組成部分。表面活性劑是洗滌劑的主要成分,它與污垢和在污垢與固體表面之間發生一系列的物理化學作用(如:潤濕、滲透、乳化、增溶、分散、起泡等)并借助于機械攪拌獲得洗滌效果。用量最多、最廣泛的是陰離子和非離子表面活性劑,陽離子和兩性表面活性劑只是在生產某些特殊類型和功能的洗滌劑時才使用。主要品種有LAS(指連烷基苯磺酸脂鹽)、AES(脂肪醇聚氧乙烯醚硫酸鹽)、MES(α - 磺酸脂肪酸脂鹽)、AOS(α-烯基磺酸鹽)、烷基聚氧乙烯醚、烷基酚聚氧乙烯醚、脂肪酰二乙醇胺、胺基酸型、甜菜堿型等。
